In June 2019 John Chaplin presented original research, entitled Recognising the signs: How to avoid arrogance and complacency, the twin killers in payments innovation at Money 20/20 Europe. Using the Payments Innovation Jury, the research centred on why innovation often fails whether it is initiated by payment market incumbents seeking to innovate to maintain their position or by new entrants attempting to disrupt the existing players.
